Thank you superwoman Amy Poehler.
It was her character, Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation, who back in 2010 declared Feb. 13 GALENTINE’s Day.
If you aren’t aware of this fabulous day, it’s not too late. It is that easy and wonderful. That’s what makes it so awesome.
A day to celebrate with just your Gals. You can wear sweats, let your hair down and forget your worries and stress. Here are some ideas for what to do. But if you are already booked up, why not use this day to set something up with your girl friends? And don’t forget when calling or sending around that email to let them know how much you adore them. Who doesn’t need a little more adoration?
Here are a few ideas
This works for any number of friends depending upon your mood
- For Cooks : gather some friends and make a big batch of waffles (Leslie Knope’s favorite food). Have each of your Gals bring over a topping.
- For Book lovers : have each friend bring a favorite poem to share – set the mood with some candles
- For Movie fans : stream a favorite Meryl Streep movie or anything funny with a women lead. Have friends bring their favorite movie snacks
- For the Divinely Naughty : have each friend be prepared with 3 dirty jokes or stories to share. Maybe bring along a sexy piece of lingerie to show off.
- For All Woman : Play 3 Jewels game – get ready to celebrate who you are, feel inspired and laugh until it hurts. Have friends bring either their fav drink or chocolate
Of course you don’t have to wait until next year to have a Celebration with your Gals. Getting together helps to remind us of how extraordinary we are, to feel supported and get reenergized. It’s good for our heart, our soul and our bodies. And we don’t do it nearly enough.
